Instinct is a dating app for adults, and your trust is the whole thing. Here's the short version of what we do with your data. The full details are right below.

We only collect what we need to run Instinct:

• Account: name, age, email, and login details.
• Profile & activity: photos, bio, gender, preferences, likes, matches, messages, and any blocks or reports.
• Location:precise location if you allow it, plus a rough location from your IP, so we can show who's nearby.
• Verification & safety: verification selfies, reports, and anti-fraud signals.
• Device & usage: IP address, device info, app interactions, and crash logs.
• Purchases & support: your subscription status and support messages. Payment providers handle card details, so we never see your full card number.

Your verification selfie is used only to confirm you're a real person. It isn't shown on your profile, and we ask for your consent before any face-based check. We don't use your photos to build a biometric profile or to identify you elsewhere, and you can ask us to delete verification images once a check is done.

We use your information to:

• Run the app: show profiles, work out distance, power matches and chat, and handle purchases and support (the service you signed up for).
• Keep everyone safe: verify accounts, fight fraud and abuse, review reports, and enforce our rules (our legitimate interest in a safe community).
• With your consent: precise location, notifications, non-essential cookies, and any sensitive profile details.
• When the law requires it:to comply, defend legal claims, or protect someone's safety.

Some checks, like spam and fraud detection, are automated. If an automated decision seriously affects you, you can ask a human to review it.

We don't sell your data, and we don't use it for targeted advertising. We share it only with:

• Other members: the profile info and messages you choose to share (your visibility settings control this).
• Trusted providers: hosting, security, and analytics tools (Amplitude, AppMetrica, and Firebase) that help us run and improve the app, under strict contracts.
• Authorities: only when the law requires it or to keep people safe.
• A future owner: if Instinct is ever sold or reorganized, under confidentiality.

Some providers process data outside the European Economic Area. When they do, we rely on approved safeguards such as the EU's Standard Contractual Clauses.

A dating profile can reveal sensitive things, like your sexual orientation. Sharing any of that is entirely your choice, and where the law requires it we rely on your explicit consent. You can withdraw it anytime by editing your profile, changing your settings, or deleting your account. Other members only see what your visibility settings allow, and the people you message can see what you send.

Wherever you live, you can:

• see, correct, download, or delete your data;
• object to or limit certain uses, and withdraw consent;
• opt out of any data “sharing” and turn off non-essential cookies (we honor Global Privacy Control signals).

In the EU/UK you can also complain to your data-protection authority (in Estonia, the Data Protection Inspectorate). In US states with privacy laws, like California, you can also appeal a decision and use an authorized agent, and we won't treat you differently for exercising a right.

We keep your data only as long as we need it to run the app and meet our legal duties. Deleting your account removes your profile and starts deletion. We keep limited, restricted records only where law, safety, or a legal claim requires.

We protect your data with encryption, access controls, and monitoring, though no online service can promise perfect security. If a breach ever affects you, we'll tell you and the regulator where required.

Instinct is strictly for adults 18 and over. We have zero tolerance for child sexual abuse or exploitation: we don't knowingly allow anyone under 18, and we remove and report violations to the authorities. If you think a minor is using Instinct, or you see anything that harms a child, tell us right away at hello@instinctdate.app.

We use cookies and similar tools for logins, security, and analytics. You can manage non-essential ones in your settings or browser.

We'll post any updates here and flag material changes before they take effect.
